Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, this project at Gilly’s restaurant showcases Skyview Detroit’s ability to execute highly complex, large-scale commercial installations. Partnering with the general contractor as a specialty subcontractor, our team was brought in to design, fabricate, and install a custom glass roof system, along with fully integrated custom bi-fold door systems that open the space to the city.
Built off-site and transported into downtown, each glass panel was carefully craned into place above Woodward Avenue in a coordinated installation that required precision planning and execution. The addition of custom bi-fold doors allows the space to transition seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments, enhancing both functionality and guest experience.
The finished result delivers a striking, light-filled atmosphere that blends architectural sophistication with the energy of one of Detroit’s most prominent entertainment districts.

This commercial project features a fully custom glass roof system and bi-fold doors installed at Gilly’s, a high-end restaurant in downtown Detroit. Acting as a specialty subcontractor, Skyview Detroit handled the design, fabrication, and installation of the structure. Each glass panel was pre-built at our facility before being transported and craned into place above Woodward Avenue, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor dining experience in a dense urban environment.

The client and general contractor needed a partner capable of delivering a highly customized solution that could be executed in a tight urban footprint without disrupting surrounding infrastructure. Skyview Detroit was brought in to engineer a glass roof system that not only met structural and performance requirements, but also enhanced the overall aesthetic of the space. From fabrication to final installation, every detail was carefully coordinated to ensure a flawless result in one of the most high-profile locations in the city.
